Cheerleader Breakfast (The best hangover cure)

Hi friends,

The past few months have been the best of our lives. We did it! Chris and I got married, had a killer honeymoon and bought our dream house. Whew! Now that we are settled I can get my apron back on and conquer my cooking fears.

I went to my trusty recipe box (remember I was given an easy “newlywed” recipe from every lady at my bridal shower) for one of my all time favorite dishes. My Gramsby’s secret family recipe…her “cheerleader breakfast”. I’m so grateful I got the approval to share it with all of you! You’re going to love it!

It turned out perfectly! I didn’t burn it, I didn’t add too much salt, I actually didn’t ruin it in any way. I was surprised how easy and inexpensive it was to make. It’s a classic because you can make it the night before a big event, a holiday, or even on a typical weekend. You just put it in the fridge overnight, then pop it in the oven in the morning and BOOM! Done! I mean who doesn’t love a nice home cooked breakfast on a lazy Sunday? It just so happens to be the best hangover cure as well and a whole lot cheaper than having food delivered.

I’m starting to realize a lot of adulthood is just foresight and preparation…and preparation is the key to success. For example, prepare for that hangover so you can conquer it, then continue to kick ass the rest of the day!

So let’s get on with it. Here’s the recipe if you would like to follow along with me on the video. We can make together, it will be fun!

Cheerleader Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 6 Slices of white bread
  • 1 pound of cooked ham
  • 1/2 pound shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. of dry mustard
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/4 pound of butter melted (one stick)
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt

Prepare

Toss bread and ham in 13×9″ buttered pan. Sprinkle cheese on top. Beat eggs, milk, mustard and salt until frothy. Pour evenly over bread, then pour melted butter over that. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight. Uncover and bake at 350°F for an hour or until bubbly. Serve and Enjoy!

I have always appreciated a well presented meal and I love any excuse to eat arugula. I served it on a bed of the pretty greens and I think it resulted in a picture perfect plate. The peppery taste of the arugula added a little depth to the dish. It was lovely.

Even Sir Windsor Tiffin loved it and he has a very educated palate.

All in all it was a success! I look forward to hearing about it, let me know if you enjoyed Gramsby’s “Cheerleader Breakfast” as much as I did. Xoxo Kate
